Q & A forum

The purpose of the questions and answers (Q & A) forum is to provide people with answers to questions people have about options and services for people with a disability.

There is a dynamic panel of speakers with Logan City Council's Cr. Steve Swenson taking up the challenge of MC. The panel consists of:

Michelle Crozier – Michelle joined the Griffith Health Institute (CONROD) in August 2009 as a Senior Research Assistant. Since this time Michelle has enrolled part time in a PhD at Griffith University exploring quality service provision to vulnerable population, in particular understanding the self-direction movement through a legislative, organisational, direct worker and service user lens.  Michelle has an extensive background in working with people with a disability from direct care work, service management, project management, consultancy and training.

Nigel Webb – Chairperson, Queenslanders with Disability Network Ltd. Nigel is also a person with cerebral palsy & proud father! Advocacy on behalf of people with disability has been a major commitment in Nigel's adult life.  Some of the issues he has an interest in include: community living, accommodation, employment, recreation, tourism, sport and the arts, institutional reform, individual legal advocacy, legal advocacy development, bio-ethics and related issues, guardianship and legislative reform dealing with disability issues.

Fiona Anderson – Fiona Anderson was the Qld manager of the highly successful Every Australian Counts campaign for the NDIS. In just over 2 years this grassroots campaign achieved rare political bipartisan and public support to secure the introduction and partial funding of the NDIS.

Shelley Birrell – Shelley works with the National Disability Services (NDS), which is the peak body for Disability Service providers.  Prior to joining NDS in 2010 she had experience working in the disability sector as a service manager of a small disability service and has gained a thorough understanding of the current issues that affect the disability sector, the direct positive/negative impact on service providers/delivery and the corresponding outcomes for consumers.
