Donating Photos to Our Collection
Logan City Council Libraries would like to expand the Local Studies photograph collection with historical pictures. Members of the public are encouraged to donate photos.
Subject matter of interest includes:
- Any pre-1970s photos of the Logan area covering:
-
- Events, parades or ceremonies
- Streetscapes
- Buildings (existing and gone)
- Pioneering families
- Pre-urban development (farms/scrub where shops have since been built)
- Photos dating up to 2010 covering natural disasters or bizarre weather (floods, droughts, dust storms, bushfires, mouse plagues, etc.)
For those patrons wishing to donate photos, please follow these steps:
- Ring to make an appointment to use the scanning computer and ask for staff assistance if you require it. As most branches have only one machine that has access to a scanner, please specify when booking that you would like the scanner for the photo drive.
- Log on to the computer that has the scanner attached.
- Please follow the scanning instructions provided (ask staff for assistance if you need it) to ensure that photos meet our requirements.
- Save the photo to the desktop and write the file name on the description form provided (if more forms are required please ask staff).
- Fill out a description form for each photo (any information you can provide will be fine).
- Sign the Library's Copyright form which will enable us to add and use the photos in our collection.
- When you are finished give our staff the completed forms and show them where the photos have been saved on the computer.
Download the Photo Drive information and forms:
