The Industrial Relations Act 2016 (Qld) requires that all new employees receive an Employee Information Statement as soon as practicable after starting work. It provides important information about your employment entitlements and other matters that will affect your employment.

Interview expenses

Unless extenuating circumstances apply, we do not pay interview or relocation expenses.

Salary and conditions of employment

Salary and conditions of employment are in line with the relevant industrial award and our current Certified Agreement.

All full time staff receive 4 weeks annual leave per year as well as 15 days sick leave per year.

Working hours vary depending on the section you work in.

Payment of wages

Salaries and wages are paid fortnightly into your preferred bank account.

Rostered days off

Apart from the Libraries and Cultural Services Branch, the majority of full time staff work a nine-day fortnight on a basis of 36.25 hours per week.

Probation

Appointment is subject to a three-month probation period. Your supervisor will conduct monthly appraisals. Following satisfactory performance, you will receive a permanent position.

Superannuation

All permanent employees are required to contribute to the Local Government Employees Superannuation Scheme within 12 months of their appointment.

Vehicle usage

We have vehicles available for official work tasks. Staff using a Council vehicle must produce the relevant current driver's licence. Staff must follow the procedures of the carpool and its operation.

Staff development and training

We commit to ongoing staff development and training. We support and encourage employees to attend training and take part in study for approved courses.

Workplace health and safety

We commit to a safe and healthy work environment. Workplace health and safety policies and procedures are in place to make sure staff are not placed at risk while at work.

Employee assistance program

The employee assistance program provides professional counselling and referral services. This is for employees or their families who are going through personal or work-related problems. This program is at no cost to the employee and is fully confidential.
