First rehearsal for QMF Orchestra
Published: 19 May 2015
Seventy-five of the 87-member orchestra for Under This Sky: Logan's Musical Celebration came together for a first rehearsal earlier this month at Logan Metro inSports at Crestmead.
The orchestra has members ranging from children to senior citizens - of all musical skill levels - representing a wonderful cross-section of Logan's musical community.
Under the baton on Shaun Dorney, the orchestra will set the tone of the Queensland Music Festival (QMF) extravaganza to be staged at Logan Brothers Rugby League Football Field at Logan Central on 1 and 2 August 2015.
QMF Producer Tara Hobbs said excitement was building as all facets of Under This Sky: Logan's Musical Celebration took shape.
"Bringing the orchestra together for the first time was a major milestone, and has reconfirmed what we've always believed: this show is going to sound amazing."
Meanwhile, the production's five-piece house band has also been selected, the script has been finalised, and more than 100 offers have gone out to potential cast members.
