Logan Celebrates Under This Sky

Queensland Music Festival's Under This Sky, met with critical and audience acclaim when it was staged on 1 and 2 August 2015, with more than 15,000 people attending the events precinct at Logan Brothers for the much anticipated stage performance.

Logan City Mayor, Pam Parker, said Under this Sky demonstrated the depth and breadth of talent in Logan and the city's strong sense of community spirit.

"On the weekend, we witnessed a spectacular community event performed on two nights by more than 700 people – ranging from school children to seniors – about a day in the life of Logan City", she said.

"From the first auditions, right through to the final performance, it was evident that the talent pool in Logan is an ocean – huge, incredibly diverse and artistically vibrant.

"Everyone involved has reason to be proud and I would like to personally thank the many hundreds of cast members who spent many hours practising and rehearsing to make the event such a worthwhile experience.

"The audiences on both nights were deeply appreciative of the performances, and the feedback I have received has been overwhelmingly positive.

"I would like to congratulate all those who were involved in the production, both on stage and behind the scenes and most particularly the Queensland Music Festival Artistic Director, James Morrison who – with the assistance of producers, directors, designers, choreographers, arrangers and managers – seamlessly brought the performances together.

"It is my hope that the thousands of people who came to witness this event were moved and inspired by the talent and stories of Logan told by those who live in, and love, this great city of ours.

"I'm looking forward to our vibrant arts community continuing the legacy and, hopefully, we will see some superstars emerge.

"'Under This Sky' has been a wonderful and worthwhile experience for everyone and I'm very thankful our community came together to show their support for the event."

'Under This Sky' was sponsored by Logan City Council and the Queensland Government via Arts Queensland, and was an initiative of the Logan: City of Choice Two-Year Action Plan 2013-2015.
