Logan residents set to Walk Together this month

The Logan: City of Choice Leadership Team is on the front foot to support "Walk Together Logan", which is happening on Saturday 22 October in Logan Central.
Walk Together 2016 celebrates diversity, and events are being held in every capital city of Australia as well as many regional centres to publicly declare that Australian people are compassionate, generous and welcoming.
Community Cohesion and Services Portfolio Chair for the City of Choice Leadership Team, Gail Ker OAM, encourages all Logan residents to join the walk.
"We want to encourage a spirit of inclusion within the City of Logan and build community cohesion, so that no matter where you come from, you feel that you are welcome here," she said.
"We have all walked different paths to be part of the Australian story and we should celebrate that."
The Walk Together Logan event begins with registration at 10.30am, followed by the walk at 11am. It will leave from 91 Wembley Rd, Logan Central, and finish at Logan Gardens, Civic Pde, Logan Central, where a festival will be held until 2.30pm. The festival will feature entertainment, face painting, food and prizes.
Logan City Councillor, Russell Lutton, said the event, being hosted by Access Community Services, was an important one for the city.
"We have more than 200 ethnicities represented here in Logan and we've built a strong and proud community spirit on that diversity," he said.
"What a difference it makes when someone extends a hand of friendship as we will at the Walk Together Logan event."
