Logan to host Queensland community development conference

Griffith University will host the 2015 Queensland Community Development Conference in November, providing a valuable chance to highlight what the City of Logan has to offer.
The theme of this year's conference is "Community back in the picture: are we ready?"
Logan City Council has partnered with conference organisers to help plan and promote the conference, and local community organisations are actively involved in planning and delivering the event.
Key speakers include Logan: City of Choice Leadership Team member and Logan Together Director Matthew Cox and Dave Copeman from the Queensland Community Alliance. The four-day conference includes a full-day strategic conversation presented by the Coalition of Community Boards.
Logan City Council Sport and Community Services Assistant Committee Chair, Councillor Jennie Breene, said the two-day conference would host up to 250 delegates a day, providing a boost to the city's economy.
"This event offers a great opportunity to showcase Logan's social enterprises and local talent and highlight current organisations and programs running in the community," Cr Breene said.
"The focus on working together to create change will provide an opportunity for the Logan community to recognise its assets and resources and develop strategies to achieve outcomes that will benefit the whole community."
Logan's hosting of the conference supports the objectives of the Logan: City of Choice Two-Year Action Plan 2013-2015.
