New approach for Week of Action to promote safety
Published: 1 September 2016
Crime prevention and community safety will be the focus for the City of Logan's Divisions 7, 8, 9 and 11 next week under a revamped Community Week of Action run by Logan City Council. Council works closely with Queensland Police Service (QPS) and community organisations to plan activities for each division to address important community safety issues in the area.
Previously, single suburbs were targeted for a whole week of activities, however the new approach – part of the City of Logan Safe City Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2020 – means each division will be focused on for a day each year.
Activities planned for next week's program include community information displays, the opportunity to meet with local councillors and QPS officers, crime prevention through environmental design audits and park clean-ups. Residents can also get one-way screws installed on their number plates to prevent theft, thanks to local Volunteers in Policing.
The Week of Action activities will be held in the following divisions:
- Division 9 – Monday 5 September
- Division 11 - Tuesday 6 September
- Division 8 - Thursday 8 September
- Division 7 - Friday 9 September.
Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 10 will be the focus of March 2017 Week of Action activities, while Divisions 4, 5, 6 and 12 will be targeted in June 2017.
