Stage set for Logan's Musical Celebration
Published: 20 March 2015
Logan's creative talent will soon be showcased on a custom-built stage, with Australian jazz legend James Morrison on hand to help turn the first sod on 13 March.
Carved into the banks of Logan Gardens, adjacent to Logan Brothers Rugby League Club in Logan Central, the stage will host Logan's Musical Celebration (working title) on 1-2 August. It will then be maintained as a legacy asset by Logan City Council following the main event.
Mayor Pam Parker said the milestone marked the first physical work on the project, and hoped it would inspire Logan's vast artistic and cultural community to audition for a part in the production.
"Auditions will be held this month for Logan residents interested in joining the cast for the performance," she said. (See details below).
"We have such a diversity of talent in Logan I'm sure producers will have a tough time choosing from the many different performers and artistic groups in our great city.
"I would strongly encourage anyone interested to audition – it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in what will be the city's biggest ever musical production."
Australian jazz legend and QMF Artistic Director James Morrison joined Logan City Councillors to mark the start of construction, and said he was already impressed with the creative talent in the City of Logan.
"We've already seen lots of very talented individuals who have created amazing original pieces, story elements and anecdotes that have formed the storyline so far," he said.
"I've been immensely impressed with the range of talents across all sections of Logan – it's been an enriching experience."
