Week of Action for Yarrabilba and Logan Village
Published: 21 March 2016
Community safety and crime prevention will be the focus of a week of activities being held in Logan Village and Yarrabilba from 18 to 24 April 2016.
It's the latest Week of Action, delivered by Logan City Council in partnership with the Queensland Police Service. The community awareness and crime prevention program was born from the Logan: City of Choice initiative.
Week of Action encourages residents to think about safety and security from a community perspective and what can be achieved by working together.
Planning for the Logan Village and Yarrabilba Week of Action has been under way for several months now, with input from the newly formed Yarrabilba Community Association, Logan Village Community Centre, Logan Village Falcons All Sports, Logan Village Lions club, Logan Village Rural Fire Brigade, Jimboomba Neighbourhood Watch, Lend Lease and local police.
Weeks of Action have been run in Woodridge, Loganlea, Crestmead, Rochedale South and Beenleigh in recent years, receiving a positive response from residents and businesses.
Activities planned include:
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design safety audits with the community during the day and at night
- Community safety information display
- Safe PL8s free installation of one-way screws to deter number plate theft with Queensland Police Service and Volunteers in Policing
- Cofee with Councillor and Queensland Police Service officers.
