Sport & Recreation Funding

Sporting clubs who are looking for funding are urged to contact their relevant Logan City Council Sport and Recreation Development Officer who will work with them in identifying their priorities and what funding options are available to them. Clubs are urged to complete and return their Club Development Plan templates provided by Council.

Council also offers assistance to eligible clubs through the Grant Writer program. This program provides a specialised consultant to work with clubs in preparing grant applications. Logan Sport & Recreation Funding Program

The Logan Sport & Recreation Funding Program is now open.

Logan City Council is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the Logan community. By partnering with sport, recreation and community organisations, a real change can be achieved. 

Your organisation is invited to submit an application under the Logan Sport & Recreation Funding Program. The program provides organisations with the opportunity to apply for support and assistance for your organisations' highest priorities in 2014/15. For this funding round, your organisation will be able to apply for matched funding up to $5,000 for facility maintenance, field and/or hard court maintenance (eg. aerating and top dressing playing fields or hard court surface cleaning). 

Eligibility

Any not-for-profit sport and recreation organisation based in Logan and incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) or similar are eligible to apply.

Funding

The Logan Sport & Recreation Funding Program provides an opportunity for eligible organisations to apply for funding assistance to contribute to facility maintenance, playing field and hard court maintenance.

Your community, sport and recreation organisation can apply for matched funding up to $5,000.

How is my application assessed?

All applications will be assessed by Council based on the criteria detailed in the application form. It is requested that you provide as much information in your application as possible, as competition for this process will be extremely high. 

Key dates

  • Applications Open - Friday 17 April 2015
  • Applications Close - Midday (12:00pm) on Tuesday 19 May 2015
  • Notification of Application Outcome - Early July 2015

There are many existing resources for clubs to assist them in the planning and management of not-for-profit organisations:

Logan Sports Development Program

Logan residents will have more opportunities to enjoy sport and recreation in the city thanks to a partnership between Logan City Council and the Brisbane Lions AFC. The Logan Sports Development Program will involve the Brisbane Lions providing $75,000 annually to help make sport more accessible to local residents.

Travel Assistance Grants

Logan Sports Development Program - Travel Assistance Grants cover the direct expenses related to representative sport and are able to be used towards:

  • Direct travel and accommodation expenses
  • Compulsory competition fees
  • Compulsory competition uniforms

Eligible applicants can apply for up to:

  • $300 for all State and National events
  • $700 for all International events

Individuals are eligible to apply multiple times for funding up to the amount of $1,000 per financial year.

Funding round key dates

  • Logan Sports Development Program – Travel Assistance Grant applications can be submitted throughout the year following notification of selection.
  • Applications must be fully completed and submitted prior to season or nominated championship commencement. No retrospective funding will be considered.
  • Please allow up to two (2) months from submitting an application to receive notification.

Logan Sports Development Program - Equipment Grants (individual) cover the direct expenses up to $500 related to the participation in your chosen sport. Examples include:

  • Protective equipment
  • Boots
  • Uniforms not supplied by the club

Logan Sports Development Program - Equipment Grants (club) cover the direct expenses up to $3,000 related to equipment essential to the participation in your chosen sport. Examples include:

  • Shared protective equipment (helmets, pads etc)
  • Shared sporting equipment (bats, gloves, bike, footballs, athletics equipment etc)
  • Equipment to assist in technique training (i.e. tackle bag)
