Travel Assistance Funding

Logan residents will have more opportunities to enjoy sport and recreation in the city thanks to a partnership between Logan City Council and the Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club.

The Logan Sports Development Program - Travel Assistance Grants cover the direct expenses related to representative sport and are able to be used towards:

  • Direct travel and accommodation expenses
  • Compulsory competition fees
  • Compulsory competition uniforms

Eligible applicants can apply for up to:

  • $300 for all state and national events
  • $700 for all international events

Individuals are eligible to apply multiple times for funding up to a maximum amount of $1,000 per financial year.Brisbane Lions

How to apply

Key dates

  • Logan Sports Development Program - Travel Assistance Grant applications can be submitted throughout the year following notification of selection;
  • Applications must be fully completed and submitted prior to commencement of the championship event. No retrospective funding will be considered; and
  • Fully completed applications may take six (6) weeks from submitting an application to receiving notification of the outcome.

Club equipment

Logan residents will have more opportunities to enjoy sport and recreation in the city thanks to a partnership between Logan City Council and the Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club.

Eligible organisations can apply for financial assistance towards equipment required for participation on training and game days. Maximum allowable funding will be based on your current registered junior membership numbers.

Applications are to be submitted online.

Who can apply

Any not-for-profit sport and recreation organisation

  • That has current junior participation (Under 18 years)
  • Operating within the boundaries of Logan City
  • Incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) or similar legislation

Organisations must also:

  • Be compliant with the Office of Fair Trading
  • Must not have any outstanding Logan City Council grant acquittals

Maintenance

The Logan Sport and Recreation Funding Program - Maintenance provides the City's sport and recreation organisations with an opportunity to apply for financial assistance towards their highest priority maintenance project/s.

Organisations are able to apply for matched funding up to $5,000 for items such as canteen/kitchen maintenance, facility maintenance, playing field maintenance and hard court surface maintenance.

Upgrade/new facility

Logan City Council is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the Logan Community by investing in building the capacity and sustainability of community, sport and recreation organisations. Through Council's ongoing partnerships with community, sporting and recreation organisations a real change can be achieved to assist in responding to community needs.

Council's Logan Sport and Recreation Funding Program provides organisations with the opportunity to apply for financial support towards key capital improvements under the Upgrade or New Facility category.

The Upgrade or New Facility category, provides organisations with an opportunity to partner with Council in the funding and development of an application to be progressed to a suitable external funding source including but not limited to the Get in the Game - Get Playing Places and Spaces program or the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Traditionally, applications for this funding category include: new buildings, building extensions, participation infrastructure, irrigation, playing field lighting and playing field or hard court upgrades.

Grant Writer Program

Council's Grant Writer Program is available to not for profit, incorporated sport, recreation and community organisations that work within the boundaries of Logan City.

This program aims to assist organisations to source funding opportunities with the support of a professional grant writer. In addition, the program aims to ensure the organisation gains the skills, knowledge and experience that will enable them to develop future grant submissions.

A Grant Writer Workshop is scheduled to be held in March 2017, which will provide

  • An overview of the sport and recreation grants
  • Discuss eligibility for these grants
  • Provide tips and tricks to complete your applications
  • Give advice and support on your applications

Annual Lessee Forum

The annual Sport, Recreation and Community Lessee Forums are scheduled to be held on Wednesday 23 August 2017.  An invitation detailing time and venue will be forwarded closer to the date.

The Forum is mandatory for all community based organisations that lease a Council facility and participation on this day will assist in strengthening your local community networks and identify your obligations and opportunities as a Lessee.
