SWITC - Support With Interpreting, Translating and Communication

The SWITC program will continue to be funded by the Department of Disability and Community Care for a further two years.

The extension of funding for SWITC brings with it new possibilities in the provision of interpreting and translation services across the non-Government Service Provider network in Queensland.

Over the course of the next two years, SWITC will continue to provide high quality, accredited interpreters.

Children Of Parents with a Mental Illness: Internet Resources to Help Dads

At COPMI, we are developing internet resources that will help dads who have a mental illness, or who have a partner with a mental illness, with their role as fathers.

It is our hope that dads will find the information resources we develop to be practical and helpful in assisting them with being a dad when mental illness plays a part in their life.

Disability Awareness E-Learning Resource

This E-Learning Resource was created through the Enhancing Access project, which works to facilitate people with disabilities and those recovering from mental ill health into volunteering. Also working to raise awareness levels in communities, and encourage volunteer managers to recognise the skills and talents of the individual. The aim of this information is to:

  • Outline the benefits to your organisation by incorporating an inclusive culture into your volunteer program.
  • Look beyond the person's differences and discover how individuals can positively contribute to your volunteer program.
  • Show you how you can promote diversity from within – both with paid staff and other volunteers.
  • Help you understand some of the issues that may be associated with specific conditions, and whether this would impact on their volunteering.
  • Explore the best way to communicate and teach your new volunteer by taking into account the learning style that works best for them.
