Active After-School Communities Program on the Lookout for Logan Sports Clubs
The Active After-School Communities (AASC) program is a national initiative that provides primary school-aged children with access to free, sport and other structured physical activity programs in the after-school time slot of 3.00 pm to 5.30 pm.
The program aims to provide opportunities for children in sport and other structured physical activities, and through a positive and fun experience, develop a love of sport that inspires them to join a local sporting club.
Run at over 3,200 schools and after-school care centres across Australia, the program gives up to 190,000 children the opportunity to try over 70 sports including netball, rugby, cricket, gymnastics, and 20 other structured physical activities such as dance and circus skills. Sport & Recreation Infrastructure Program
Category I and Category II have been made available through the SRIP program. This means that projects up to $400,000 (Category I) and projects between $400,000 and $1.25 million can be applied for. You will need seed money of 25% for Category one and 40% for Category two.
Category 1
- new spaces and places for sport and/or recreation participation
- essential player and official's amenities
- shade structures over participation spaces.
Category 2
- new spaces and places for sport and/or recreation participation
- new multipurpose sports' facilities.

Hyundai Community Sports Scholarship
Hyundai is also involved in a Community Sport Scholarship program to aims to encourage girls and women within communities around the state to continue to be involved in sport. The Hyundai Community Sport Scholarships have been initiated in recognition of two specific issues affecting women and girls in sport.

Crestmead PCYC New Sports Library
The Crestmead PCYC has opened a sports library, which is an initiative of Sports Minister Phil Reeves and is funded by the Deptartment of Communities. It works similarly to an ordinary library, but instead of books we have sporting equipment.
To borrow equipment you have to be a member of the Sports Library. Membership to the Sports Library is free. The library catalogue (PDF 628 KB) has information on the Sports Library, and shows the equipment that can be borrowed.

Queensland Government Sport and Recreation Program Funding
The Queensland Government has recently announced a new package of sport and recreation programs. These include the Sport & Recreation Infrastructure program which offers assistance up to $300,000.
Sport & Recreation Active Inclusion programs makes available funds up to $50,000.
Organisational Development programs provide funding up to $300,000 over three years.
Funding for Elite Indigenous Sportspeople

Indigenous sportspeople who are involved in mainstream official national championships and international sporting competitions can apply for financial assistance through the Elite Indigenous Travel and Accommodation Assistance Program (EITAAP).

The Australian Sports Commission is offering a free online coaching courses and an online offical courses.
Good Sports Program
The Good Sports program is a national initiative of the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) to develop safer and healthier communities. It is a free program which helps clubs change their culture to become more focused on young people and families and less on the consumption of alcohol at high risk levels. Good Sports works to create sustainable change by enabling sporting clubs to change their systems and practices around the responsible serving of alcohol.
