Community Week of Action

The Community Week of Action is a community safety and crime prevention collaboration between Council and Queensland Police Service (QPS). This initiative engages community, government and non-government agencies from across the City to focus their resources and attention on community safety matters.

Three weeks of action will be delivered over the course of each year with each division having a day of focus:

  • March - Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 10
  • June - Divisions 4, 5 ,6 and 12
  • September - Divisions 7, 8, 9 and 11.

A range of safety-based activities will be delivered throughout each Community Week of Action. Council works closely with QPS and community organisations to plan activities for each Community Week of Action to ensure that each initiative delivered addresses important community safety issues in that area. By working with our partners, Council will be able to positively spread the message about crime prevention and proactive approaches to personal and community safety.

The March Community Week of Action is scheduled for the week of 20-24 March, 2017 and will focus on Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 10.

A variety of community safety activities are planned for the week and community members encouraged to get involved in the free events that will be on offer. Click on the relevant Council Division below to see all the activities, dates and times scheduled for the week.

On 26 March 2017, community members are also encouraged to get involved in 'Neighbour Day' by connecting with their neighbours and those living in their local community. Donations of up to $500 are available through Council's Community Safety Program for any community groups / organisations for the purpose of holding a community safety focused Neighbour Day event. To access the Community Donations Request Form - click here (PDF 154 KB).
