Free Tipping Waste Vouchers

Four waste vouchers are provided with each July rates notice to ratepayers with domestic garbage charges on their accounts (vouchers are not available to commercial properties).

These vouchers can be used to dispose of general waste loads, including contruction and demolition waste for free.

Terms and conditions, also listed on the vouchers, include:

  • Vehicle Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) must be less than 4.5 tonnes (ie. an average car, station wagon, utility or 4WD with or without a trailer)
  • Voucher must be presented at the time of disposal
  • Only one voucher redeemable per transaction
  • Vouchers cannot be redeemed or used for payment of any other Council account
  • Vouchers will not be replaced if lost or destroyed
  • Not for re-sale
  • Any waste in excess of 750kg or 2m3 shall be charged at the applicable fee
  • Disposal of dead animals, asbestos, tyres and other hazardous waste is excluded
  • Tree stumps only accepted at the Browns Plains Landfill
  • Construction and demolition waste will only be accepted at the Beenleigh, Carbrook, Greenbank and Logan Village Transfer Stations if delivered in vehicles less than 4.5 tonne GVM (ie. an average car, station wagon, utility or 4WD with or without a trailer). All other vehicle types will only be accepted at the Browns Plains Landfill. No loads of construction and demolition waste greater than 2m3 accepted at Beenleigh
  • Vouchers cannot be redeemed by commercial customers whose loads consist of a majority of greenwaste

Frequently asked questions

My rates are sent by e-mail, not posted out. Will I receive vouchers?

Ratepayers who receive e-rates (BPayView) notices (and not actually have a paper notice sent) will be forwarded their entitlement of waste vouchers in separate correspondence.

I am a current owner and did not receive any waste vouchers in the July account.

Please first check your rates notice to confirm you pay domestic garbage charges on your rates, as only those residents who pay garbage charges receive vouchers.

Next check the flyers, inserts and envelopes included with the rates notice itself, as it is possible you may have accidentally disposed of the vouchers with the excess paper.

If you are certain you did not receive the vouchers, the owner will need to attend a Customer Service Centre with proof of residency to collect vouchers.

Please note: Replacement vouchers will not be mailed out to customers.

My vouchers have been lost/stolen.

Lost or stolen vouchers are not replaceable.

Residents can make use of the annual Kerbside Clean Up available in Logan City.

I am a new owner and did not receive any waste vouchers as I did not get the July account.

The owner will need to attend a Customer Service Centre with proof of ownership once settlement has gone through and transfer of ownership is on Council's system (this could take 6-8 weeks from settlement of contract of sale).

I have only just ordered bins for my new house, do I have to wait until next July to get vouchers?

The owner will need to attend a Customer Service Centre with proof of residency to collect vouchers.

I am a tenant. Can I have vouchers too?

Vouchers are only provided to the rates account holder for each property.

Tenants can contact the managing agent of the property to ask for the vouchers. Alternatively, tenants can make use of the annual Kerbside Clean Up in Logan City.

I am a tenant and the real estate/owner of property won't give me the vouchers they received?

Providing vouchers to tenants is at the discretion of property owner/agent. This will need to be discussed with them. Logan City Council will not make decisions on this.

I am a tenant of a QLD Housing Commission property. Can I obtain waste vouchers?

Tenants of QLD Housing Commission properties within Logan can attend a Customer Service Centre in person to claim their waste vouchers.

They must provide a tenancy agreement as proof of tenancy (a drivers licence or any other documentation is not acceptable).

Please note: Replacement vouchers will not be mailed out to customers.

Can I use more than one voucher at a time to avoid excess waste charges?

No. One per vehicle and one voucher at a time.

Owners of a non-strata titled, domestic multi-unit property, may be eligible to receive additional waste vouchers.

The owner or manager of the property can attend a Customer Service Centre with proof of ownership to claim additional vouchers as per conditions noted on waste vouchers.
