Household Paint & Chemical Drop-Off Days

Council offers a free disposal service for chemicals, paints and pesticides on selected dates throughout the year.

The service is available from 8:00am to 4:00pm at:

  • Browns Plains Landfill - Saturday 5 November 2016
  • Carbrook and Logan Village Transfer Stations - Saturday 4 February 2017
  • Greenbank and Beenleigh Transfer Stations - Saturday 6 May 2017

Residents will be entitled to bring up to 10 litres of each of the following chemical types:

  • Water based paints
  • Solvent based paints
  • Pesticides
  • Arsenic based materials
  • Cyanide
  • Photographic solutions
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Acids
  • Alkalis
  • Solvents
  • Pool chlorine
  • Petrol

Materials that do not fall into the above categories will not be accepted.

Please note that Council will be retaining all the containers that paint and chemicals are presented in.

Materials such as fluorescent tubes, cooking oil, vehicle batteries, domestic smoke detectors, rechargeable batteries, mobile phones and accessories, sharps (used syringes - residents only) and tyres are accepted at the landfill 365 days per year. There is no charge for disposal of these materials with the exception of motor oil ($0.30 per litre for every litre in excess of 25 litres) and tyres (ranging from $3.00 for car tyres).

Paint, which has been allowed to harden, is accepted 365 days per year and is also the subject of standard disposal fees.
