Volunteering at Logan Art Gallery is a great experience. It provides an opportunity to meet new friends, talk with artists and enjoy the many artworks displayed. Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks including general 'meet and greet' reception duties and installing the monthly exhibitions. You will need to be over 16 to assist the gallery as a volunteer, and training is provided by staff.
Our volunteer information sessions are held at 11.00am on the second Saturday of each month at Logan Art Gallery.
If you would like to register your interest in attending the information session, please book using the link on the What's on at the Gallery page, or contact the Art Gallery Assistant, Jillian Beardsworth on (07) 3412 5228 or email JillianBeardsworth@logan.qld.gov.au.
Logan Art Gallery provides the following opportunities for people wanting to volunteer:
If you have great customer service skills, are reliable and keen to get involved in the arts, why not become one of our reception volunteers? You will assist in reception duties, answer the phones, talk with visitors about current exhibitions, sell artworks from the Gallery Store and help with mailouts. You will be rostered on once per month on a morning or afternoon according to your availability and our requirements.
If you want to find out what happens 'behind the scenes' of an exhibition, are confident in handling artworks, are good with a tape measure and drill, and have an eye for detail, why not become one of our installation volunteers? You will assist with demounting and packing artworks, unpacking and installing artworks, painting the exhibition space and furniture, and working to make the gallery look perfect for the opening night. Installation volunteers are required for a day or two every six weeks.
If you are practical and artistic, why not become a workshop volunteer? You will assist with preparing materials, helping the artist or educator who is running the session, working with groups who are participating and helping to pack up at the end of the workshop. Workshop volunteers can help with sessions advertised in What's on and for special events. Volunteers working with children will need a Blue Card.
