Council has a specialised team dedicated to the repair of all asphalted surfaces within Council’s road reserves. Potholes are systematically identified and reinstated as soon as practicable. However potholes often appear rapidly, especially after periods of rain and wet weather.
To assist Council in providing a safe and usable road network, please report any potholes to Logan Works on 3412 5436.
Council maintains 209 carparks at various locations throughout Logan City. For more information, see the locations of carparks (pdf).
As well as maintaining these carparks, Council constructs approximately two new school carparks each year. This is possible through a 50/50 grant from the Department of Main Roads under their Safe School Travel (SafeST) Program.
Council strives to maintain its carparks in good order. However, if you discover any problems with the condition of any of Council's carparks, please contact Logan Works on 3412 5436.
Council maintains 41 road bridges.
These are subject to an inspection program which monitors the condition of the bridges. If you discover any problems with the condition of any of Council's bridges or major culverts, please contact Logan Works on 3412 5436.
Maintenance of existing kerb and channel
Logan Works repairs and maintains all kerb and channel within the road reserve. This maintenance includes the repair of any kerb and channel defects that could be a safety hazard to pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
Should you discover any potential hazards in a piece of kerb and channel in your area, please contact Logan Works 3412 5436.
Painting of house numbers on kerb and channel
- Council has no objections to the painting, engraving or fixing of house numbers only on the face of concrete kerbs or the wings of driveway crossovers within the city at the request and expense of individual property owners.
- House numbers are to be checked with Council prior to painting or engraving.
- Council accepts no responsibility for maintenance or replacement of kerb numbers.
- Council will not become directly involved in schemes for fixing house numbers to kerb.
- Council’s preference for kerb numbering is black numerals on a white reflective background.
Requests for new kerb and channel
Council currently undertakes the installation of new kerb and channel in conjunction with capital roadworks. For further information, please download a copy of Council's policy (pdf) relating to development frontage works. This policy is used to determine the annual roadworks and drainage programs and whether or not to construct certain roads and drainage upgrading works along the frontage of various properties which may have future development potential.
Should you wish to lodge a request for the construction of new kerb and channel, please contact Council on 3412 5282.
Directional signs
Directional signs are usually located under the street name sign to indicate a community facility in a particular street. Requests for new directional signs should be made by contacting Road Infrastructure Planning and Design on 3412 4572.
Traffic signs
All enquiries relating to requests for new, or changes to existing regulatory traffic signs (e.g. Stop signs, Give Way signs, No Parking signs, etc.), should be made by contacting Road Infrastructure Planning and Design on 3412 4572.
Enforcement of regulatory traffic signs falls under the jurisdiction of the Police or, in the case of parking signs, Council who can be contacted on 3412 5318.
Damaged directional or traffic signs
Council has a specialised team dedicated to reinstating/replacing any damaged signs within Council's road reserve. Vandalism or a vehicular accident can cause sign damage. Without the presence of many of these regulatory signs, the community is at risk (e.g. damage to a Stop or Give-Way sign).
As a responsible Council we are always on the lookout for damaged signs. If you have identified a sign that has been damaged, please notify Logan Works on 3412 5436.
The Parks Branch is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and capital works of public toilets.
View Logan City Council Public Toilet map.
For further information on public toilets, please contact Council 3412 5338.

Street lights and most park lights that are:
- not working
- flickering
- in need of cleaning of cobwebs
- broken in any way
or that have poles knocked over etc. should be reported to Energex on 13 12 53.
Energex requires the exact street address of the problem. The pole number is only absolutely necessary if reporting a light in a park.
New requests for street lights
In residential areas where there is existing wood poles with overhead power reticulation, street lights are provided on alternate poles.
In residential areas that have underground power, the street lights have been designed and installed to meet the AS/NZS Code for road lighting.
Requests for additional lighting may be forwarded to your Divisional Councillor or by contacting Council on 3412 5550.
Shading of street lights
The majority of street lights in Logan City are owned and maintained by Energex. Any modifications in the form of shades or shields to the lights must be requested by Council to Energex.
It is not the policy of Energex or Council to shade street lights. However, if a resident can demonstrate extreme hardship experienced by the visibility of a light source or overspill of the quantity of light generated by a street light, a light shade/shield can be installed. Such shielding comes at a standard cost which must be paid to Energex.
It is the policy of Council that where shields to street lights are requested, the cost of the work must be paid for by the complainant. In exceptional circumstances however, the Divisional Councillor may contribute towards the cost.
Further enquiries can be made by contacting Council on 3412 5550.
Street lighting guidelines
For the use of electrical consultants in preparing plans for development works (subdivisions), street lighting guidelines may be found in Council's Development Manual. Further enquiries should be made by contacting Council on 3412 5550.
