Can these timeframes be changed?

We do appreciate that undertaking your searches prior to purchase can be a busy time. It is our aim to help you to make this process as streamlined as possible. However, due to the high volumes of searches we process, we are regrettably unable to accelerate any request outside of these timeframes and we do not provide a fast track service at this time. To ensure that you receive your search results within your desired timeframes, with enough time to discuss with us any questions you may have, we encourage you to allow at least 3 business days in addition to Council's processing time when negotiating your contract timeframes.

What must submitted with the application

If you are the current owner

If you own the property upon which the search has been requested, Council will require you to provide a copy of proof of ownership of the property (for example, a rates notice with your name on it), together with the application form.

If you are not the current owner

For privacy purposes, if you do not own the property (for example, if you are a prospective purchaser), you must provide together with the application form a copy of either:

  • A signed a contract of sale for the property
  • A letter of authority from the current property owner authorising you to request the search

Please note that the search processing timeframe does not begin until Council has received a copy of the necessary ownership or authorisation document.

Lodging the application

Electronic: You can lodge a search application by email and pay with credit card.

Lodging in person: Present your search application together with your payment in cash, cheque, money order or credit card* at any of Council's Customer Service Centres. EFTPOS facilities are also available for your convenience.

Lodging by mail: Make your cheque or money order payable to Logan City Council and post it with your search application to Chief Executive Officer, Logan City Council, PO Box 3226, Logan City DC Qld 4114 or complete the Credit Card Details on the application form, if paying by Credit Card*.

*From 1 October 2014 a merchant service fee of 0.5% will be charged on credit card payments  

Access requirements

If you order a full planning and development certificate or building and plumbing inspection report, please be aware that Council will need you to organise access to the property in advance, in order for a staff member to carry out the necessary inspection. So we can supply the search results within our standard processing timeframes, we ask that you arrange for access to the land within five business days of Council starting the search.
