The 'Greenbank Amendment' is an amendment to the Logan Planning Scheme, affecting the Greenbank Training Area buffer overlay. The overlay code manages development in the buffer area to ensure that defence operations in the Greenbank Military Training Area in Logan's north-west remain viable in the long term.
The amendment seeks to achieve a balanced approach to development occurring within the buffer area, while ensuring that the Greenbank Training Area's strategic value as a long term defence facility continues to be protected. Logan City Council has consulted with the Federal Government Department of Defence and the State Government in preparing this amendment. The amendment:
- Reduces the extent of the buffer area around the Greenbank Military Training Area;
- Reduces the types of development that need to be assessed against the code; and
- Amends the outcomes in the code such as the planning rules future development needs to comply with.
These changes mean that some properties will no longer be affected by the overlay code and some will have different, less restrictive planning rules in place.
This amendment was open for community feedback from Monday 15 August 2016 to Friday 2 September 2016.
During this period 12 submissions and 51 enquiries about the proposed amendment were received.
The Submission Analysis and Response Report (PDF 502 KB) summarises the feedback Council received on the Amendment and contains Council's response to the feedback.
