Art Gallery Volunteers

Volunteering at Logan Art Gallery is a great experience. As a volunteer, you can make new friends, talk with artists and enjoy our artworks.

The gallery’s volunteers assist with a range of tasks, including meeting and greeting our visitors, reception duties, installing exhibitions and helping with workshops. To volunteer, you will need to be over 16 years. We provide all training.

If you would like to register your interest in attending a volunteer information session, please email us at artgallery@logan.qld.gov.au.

Logan Art Gallery provides these opportunities for people who want to volunteer:

Reception volunteers

If you have great customer service skills, are reliable and are keen to get involved in the arts, why not become one of our reception volunteers?

Reception volunteers assist with:

  • reception duties
  • phone duties
  • talking with visitors about current exhibitions
  • selling artworks from the gallery store
  • helping with mail-outs.

We will roster you on once per month. This can be a morning or afternoon, depending on your availability and requirements.

Installation volunteers

If you want to find out what happens behind the scenes of an exhibition, then being an installation volunteer could be for you.

Installation volunteers need to:

  • be confident in handling artworks
  • be good with a tape measure and drill
  • have an eye for detail.

Installation volunteers assist with:

  • demounting and packing artworks
  • unpacking and installing artworks
  • painting the exhibition space and furniture
  • working to make the gallery look perfect for opening night.

We need installation volunteers for a day or two every six weeks.

Workshop volunteers

If you are practical and artistic, why not become a workshop volunteer?

Workshop volunteers assist with:

  • preparing materials
  • helping the artist or educator who is running the session
  • working with groups who are participating
  • helping to pack up at the end of the workshop.

Workshop volunteers can help with our regular sessions and our special events. Volunteers who work with children will need a Blue Card.
