Published: 9 July 2018
Want to be more active and lead a healthier lifestyle on a budget?
There is a wide variety of free and low-cost activities to choose from as part of Logan City Council’s new Live Well Logan program.
Launching the 2018-19 program, City Lifestyle and Community Committee Chairperson, Councillor Steve Swenson, said the initiative caters for everyone.
“Our latest Live Well Logan program has something for everyone regardless of age, ability, mobility and work schedule,” Cr Swenson said.
“Live Well Logan has more free and low-cost activities across six categories: Children’s Activities, Cooking and Nutrition Classes, Fitness and Sports, Gardening, Gentle Movement and Wellbeing.
“Based on community feedback, activities are spread throughout the City of Logan and we have increased the number of after-hours activities by 23 per cent compared to last year’s program.”
Activities include Sourdough and Gut Health workshops, Cooking on a Budget classes, Metafit, aqua aerobics, yoga, Golf for Women, Jujitsu for Kids, Body Love Boot Camp for Teen Girls, and a Life Skills Education Program.
“There are activities specifically designed for men, such as Great Mates Meet, Dads Playgroup, Dads in Distress, as well as Dads and Families Fun Morning,” Cr Swenson added.
“There’s also Lungs in Action, an exercise maintenance program for people recovering from heart or lung conditions.
“With a wide variety of activities in our Live Well Logan program, City of Logan residents can find something that interests them.
“I encourage everyone to try some of the free and low-cost activities we have on offer to help lead a more active and healthy lifestyle.
“Participating in one of these activities is also a great way to make new friends in your community.
“Most of the activities in the Live Well Logan program don’t require bookings – you just need to turn up.”
The Live Well Logan program runs from July 16, 2018 to June 30, 2019.
