Logan City Council has commenced a $20 million asphalt resurfacing program on roads across the city as part of this year’s $114 million investment in road and drainage infrastructure works.

The asphalt works program will include the resurfacing of 185 streets across 32 suburbs, as well as spray seals for a further 16 streets across 12 suburbs by June next year.

The works will include trials of several emerging product technologies to continue supporting innovation in the industry after Council became the first in Queensland to trial a new fibre-reinforced asphalt technology as part of last year’s program.

There are more than 2000km of sealed roads in the city and with a growing population more roads are added to our network each year.

Logan City Council Acting Roads and Water Director Daryl Ross, said Council is committed to road safety by ensuring the city’s roads are upgraded and maintained.

He said the new technologies would help achieve improved lifespan of assets and enhance environmental sustainability in Council’s operations into the future.

Mr Ross said smarter solutions to pavement construction and resurfacing would also allow Council to be more efficient by doing “more for less”.

In addition to the resurfacing program, other major road and drainage upgrades underway and recently completed in Logan include:

  • stage three of reconstruction works to New Beith Rd, between the roundabout at Pub La and Citrine St
  • the extension of Third Ave between Gilmore Rd and Wembley Rd in Berrinba
  • stormwater infrastructure upgrade works in the catchments for Dryandra Dve in Eagleby, Camena St in Shailer Park, Mackellar Dve in Boronia Heights and Kinloch St in Daisy Hill
  • new cycleway facilities along Chambers Flat Rd between Kingston Rd and Waratah Dve
  • the replacement of the culvert at Scott La in North Maclean
