Creative shade solution sought for Logan landmark

An opportunity to design a creative and innovative shade solution for a prominent Logan City Council landmark is now open for Expressions of Interest (EOI).

Design and construction submissions are sought for a shade solution for the Beenleigh Town Square, in one of Logan’s key city centres.

The Beenleigh Town Square hosts a variety of important community events including markets, local festivals, movie nights and outdoor performances.

City Centres Special Committee chair, Councillor Jon Raven, said the project was a key outcome of the 2017 Beenleigh Summit.

The summit brought together urban design and planning experts along with members of the community to create a priority list of projects to unlock Beenleigh’s full potential.

“We are looking for an innovative shade solution that will add colour to the town square and create a point of difference,” Cr Raven said.

“This project aims to make the town centre more inviting while encouraging future social and economic growth.”

Council encourages submissions from professionals including artists, fabricators, architects and landscape architects that will not only provide additional shade, but also support activation of the Town Square.

This could include the provision of functional art and/or creative and innovative artistic design solutions which add vibrancy and life to the space through the day and night.

Interested parties can register and download EOI documents from LG Tender box (lgtenderbox.com.au), utilising the search reference EDS/04/2019.

EOI submissions close at 2pm on Tuesday, March 19.
