EoI for premier Logan field launched

An Expression of Interest process for operation, maintenance and management of Logan's soon-to-be-built premier sporting field has been launched.

As work progresses on final designs for the site at Logan Metro Sports Park in Heritage Park, Council has opened expressions of interest to the commercial and not-for-profit sector looking for a suitable candidate to run either the whole of the sports park or part thereof.

Sports and Community Services Committee Chair, Cr Russell Lutton (Division 2), said the EoI was an exciting opportunity to take on a pristine NRL-standard venue.

"Council is investing in the only new facility of this calibre in south-east of Queensland in recent years, making it a highly valuable opportunity for the right proponent," he said.

"Additionally, the final design will provide quality sporting facilities to cater to the needs of local sporting organisations as well as providing a premier field to further attract major sporting events and activities to the city.

"Planned to be ready to use by the end of 2016, the site will feature extensive facilities suited to a range of community and professional sporting needs."

When complete the facility will feature the following –

  • One (1) Premier rectangular field;
  • Three (3) Local level rectangular fields;
  • One (1) facility to service the Premier field;
  • Four (4) change rooms per facility;
  • One (1) facility to service the Local level fields;
  • Four (4) change rooms per faciility
  • Lighting to all fields;
  • Minimum of 200 carparks; and
  • Road access to all fields.
