Logan hosts touring kids' workshops
Published: 4 January 2019
Logan Art Gallery will host creative art activities for children this month and Logan City Council Libraries will join the fun from February.
APT9 Kids on Tour creative arts workshops will run at the gallery between January 19 and 25 from 10am to 3pm each day.
There is no need to book into these workshops. Simply drop in to the gallery on the corner of Wembley Rd and Jacaranda Ave, Logan Central.
APT9 Kids on Tour explores the preciousness of life and natural resources, and the importance of community and storytelling through hands-on and multimedia activities.
The activities, for children and families, have been created by artists exhibiting at the 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art – currently on display at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA).
City Lifestyle and Community Committee Chairperson, Councillor Steve Swenson, said the APT9 Kids on Tour free interactive program was being presented between January and April this year in more than 100 regional and remote venues throughout Queensland and Torres Strait, including in the City of Logan.
“This program gives local children the chance in their own backyard to experience activities developed by artists from the Asia Pacific region,” Cr Swenson said.
“In conjunction with the exhibition, three of our libraries will be hosting special art activities.
“I encourage all families to take the time to be part of the APT9 Kids on Tour workshops at the Logan Art Gallery and Logan City Council Libraries.”
The activities will be held in the following locations:
* Logan West Library – February;
* Jimboomba Library – March;
* Logan North – April.
No bookings are required. Drop in during library opening hours.
