Major upgrade for Henderson Rd

Road pavement reconstruction works have started at Henderson Rd, Jimboomba, making a smoother and safer ride for motorists.

City Roads and Water Committee Chairman, Councillor Phil Pidgeon, said the works would strengthen and improve the road surface between Cusack Lane and Candlebark Rd.

"In addition to strengthening and reconstructing the road pavement, we'll be upgrading a number of intersections, resurfacing the road, installing road drainage and doing associated works such as line marking and site restoration," he said.

"Council proudly invests funds into maintaining our road network so that our city's infrastructure meets the needs and expectations of the local community and travelling public."

Division 11 Councillor, Trevina Schwarz, said workers were on site now, with construction expected to be completed by October this year, weather permitting.

"This is a much needed-project due to the current condition of the road," she said.

“It will deliver a lot of benefits, but to ensure the safety of motorists and workers, there will be some changes to traffic arrangements during construction hours.

“It will be a case of long-term gain for some short-term pain and residents can rest assured that our crews will be doing all they can to minimise construction impacts.”

During roadworks between Candlebark Rd and St Jude Cct, two-way traffic will be maintained by traffic control and temporary traffic signals. A detour will be in place via St Jude Cct during construction works between St Jude Cct and Cusack Lane.

Access to properties and sporting fields next to the work zones will be maintained during the course of the works

Works will be carried out from 6.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays, with some weekend works as they are required.

The $2.94 million project is being funded from Logan City Council's 2017/2018 capital roadworks and drainage program.
