Millstream Rd upgrade starts
Published: 18 May 2018
Millstream Rd will offer a smoother and safer ride for motorists later this year thanks to a major reconstruction project now underway.
Works include strengthening the road pavement, upgrading the street drainage system, line marking and road surface improvements between the Mt Lindesay Hwy to just south of Heritage Rd.
City Roads and Water Committee Chairman, Councillor Phil Pidgeon said the project was being delivered in sections to minimise disruptions for motorists.
“This is a big project that will deliver a lot of benefits to the local community and motorists," he said.
Two-way traffic will be maintained for the duration of the works through a combination of traffic control and temporary traffic signals during construction working hours.
Division 11 Councillor Trevina Schwarz said she was excited to see the project start construction.
“I’ve strongly advocated for an upgrade here at Millstream Rd so it’s great to see the crews on the ground delivering the works,” Cr Schwarz said.
“Works will boost safety and provide a smoother ride, so it’s great news for residents and motorists who regularly travel on this stretch of road.
“Our crews will be doing everything they can to minimise construction impacts on the community but we encourage people to allow extra time in case of any travel delays."
Weather and conditions permitting, works are expected to be completed in December.
Works are planned to start at the Heritage Rd end and progressively move towards the Mt Lindesay Hwy.
Drivers can use an alternative route of the Mt Lindesay Hwy and Cedar Vale Rd while the project is happening.
