Musicians and venues sought for Logan Live Music Month

Expressions of interest are expected to strike a chord with musicians and venues who would like to participate in a rocking new initiative: Logan Live Music Month.
City Lifestyle and Community Committee Chairperson Councillor Steve Swenson said during July the City of Logan would provide funding to match performing artists with venues.
“Through Logan Live we have a great opportunity to showcase Logan’s emerging and established performers in the city’s cafes and eateries from July 1 to 31 this year,” he said.
Cr Swenson said the month-long project would be launched on World Music Day on June 21.
“World Music Day is an annual day of music celebrated in 120 countries around the world and it will be marked locally by performances in Logan City Council libraries, Mayes Cottage and the Logan Art Gallery.
“We want to encourage both performers and venues to apply now to be part of Logan Live Music Month.
“This will lift the profile of performers and raise awareness of musical talent in Logan as well as value-add to the café and restaurant experience.
“We ultimately want to leave a legacy where businesses see the importance of live performance and continue to engage performers after the program has finished.
“It is hoped that the initiative will continue beyond the funding support provided by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) which is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Logan City Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.”
Applications can be lodged at www.loganlive.com.au until 8am on 10 April.
