Plenty to sing about at Mayor's Gala Dinner

He certainly isn't a hound dog, but Dean Vegas had them all shook up when he took to the LEC stage recently for the 2013 Logan Mayoress' Annual Gala Dinner and Show Fundraiser.

The popular Elvis Presley impersonator was a huge hit on the night with many taking to the dance floor and relishing the chance to relive the classic hits from the "King of Rock and Roll".

And it was all for a good cause with a record amount of approximately $70,000 raised for Logan City-based charities on the night.

A delighted Mayor Parker thanked the 480-guests who attended the annual fundraising for providing such generous support.

"I am so grateful to the sponsors, supporters, donors and guests for their overwhelming generosity," she said.

"To raise approximately $70,000 on one night in such difficult times is a testament to the kindness and generosity of Logan City residents and businesses and those that attended the event from outside our city. It is without doubt our most successful fundraiser yet.
"A big part of this event's fundraising success was the charity auction held on the night. Almost $40,000 was raised from donated items including original artwork from Don Waters, a signed Queensland State of Origin “Eight-Straight” jersey, and other memorabilia."
Mayor Parker said all funds raised from the 2013 Logan Mayoress' Annual Gala Dinner and the Logan Mayoress’ Community Services Committee's other fundraising events and activities during the year would be distributed by the committee.

The committee will present the funds to various Logan City-based not-for-profit registered charities and welfare organisations at a special morning tea later this year.
