Treasure on offer for Book Week at Logan libraries

Logan City Council Libraries will celebrate Australian Children’s Book Week from August 17 to 24 with a range of pirate-themed activities.

City Lifestyle and Community Committee Chairperson, Councillor Steve Swenson, said the event designed to celebrate children’s books and highlight Australian authors and illustrators.

“This year’s theme is Find Your Treasure, which is a perfect way to describe searching to discover your next great book to read as a great story can feel like treasure when it speaks to you,” Cr Swenson said.

Cr Swenson said pirates were also famous for loving treasure and a great story.

“Apart from tales of adventure, sea shanties and Pirate I Spy treasure games, there will be a series of hands-on workshops at Logan’s libraries,” he said

“You can learn how to make pirate masks and parrot gliders, create your own pop-up pirate boat and find out how to keep it afloat, or attend a Pint-sized Stories with a Punch short story workshop by author RJ Timmis.”
