Week of Action program makes its way to Beenleigh

A range of activities focused on community safety and crime prevention will be held in the Beenleigh area later this month as part of the Week of Action program.

Logan City Council Safe City Advisory Committee Chairperson, Councillor Russell Lutton, said the program had been established to encourage residents to think about safety and security from a community perspective – and what could be achieved by working together.

"The Week of Action was born out of the Logan: City of Choice initiative and is a partnership project we've developed with the Queensland Police Service," he said.

"It's very much a community-focused program, with police, Crime Stoppers, PCYC and other volunteers set to be out and about providing information and support during the week."

Cr Lutton said the Beenleigh Week of Action would be held from 21-27 September.

"The program has previously been run in Woodridge, Loganlea, Crestmead and Rochedale South over the past couple of years, and received a positive response from both residents and businesses.

"It's a great initiative that brings the community together to focus their attention on working together for the benefit of everyone."

Division 12 Councillor Jennie Breene said the Week of Action would coincide with the installation of nine new safety cameras in the Beenleigh CBD and the last stage of the Beenleigh Town Square construction.

"All eyes will definitely be on Beenleigh in the coming weeks, so I encourage residents and business owners to come along to some of the activities," she said.
