Logan to host Wolfgang world premiere
The premiere of Wolfgang will be held next month in Logan.

The magic of the circus combined with the mayhem of Mozart is set to dazzle Logan in July at a world premiere performance to thrill all ages.

City Lifestyle and Community Committee Chairperson Councillor Steve Swenson said the premiere from July 4 to 6 at the Logan Entertainment Centre (LEC) would involve a Circa Contemporary Circus performance called Wolfgang.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as the location by Circa for them to launch this exciting and interesting new production,” Cr Swenson said.

Circa Contemporary Circus is one of the world's leading performance companies.

Since 2004, from its base in Brisbane, Circa has toured the world - performing in 39 countries to more than a million people.

Circa's works have been greeted with standing ovations, rave reviews and sold-out houses across six continents.

Circa is at the forefront of the new wave of contemporary Australian circus, pioneering how extreme physicality can create powerful and moving performances.

Under the direction of circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz, Circa features an ensemble of exceptional, multi-skilled circus artists who have been a regular fixture at leading festivals and venues across the world as well as major Australian Festivals.

Circa’s aim in creating Wolfgang was to bring its abstract acrobatics into a new, family-friendly physical comedy style and creating a work that is fun, skilful, funny and illuminating.

They have reduced the number of acrobats, increased the amount of stuff and created a work that is at once fun, skilful, funny and illuminating.

Mozart was a major genius, associated with classical music but in real life he was a ratbag - in love with puns, darts, carousing and love itself.

His talent and irrepressible spirit infuse Circa’s production.

Musically Circa is taking Mozart’s music and re-imagining it for a small ensemble, augmented by the circus artists and a live accordion player.

Cr Swenson said he expected Logan residents would take the opportunity to see this production in their own backyard.

“This is a great opportunity to be part of Circa’s worldwide launch of its new production and I encourage everyone to be part of it,” he said.

The performance times are 10.30am on July 4, 5 and 6 and a 6pm performance on July 6.
