Queen Kimberley has a right royal sale

The City of Logan’s Kimberley Ross has been crowned the state’s Queen of the Garage Sale by Garage Sale Trail, Australia’s biggest sustainability and community event.
The Crestmead resident’s garage sale, which offered something for everyone, received more public votes of support than any other sale in Queensland on Garage Sale Trail weekend
A record 18,000 garage sale events took place over the weekend on October 20-21 as part of the Trail.
More than 400,000 Australians participated with more than four million items set free from storage in cupboards, garages and sheds across the country.
Locally, Garage Sale Trail was made possible thanks to support from Logan City Council.
City Parks, Animals, Environment and Waste Committee Chairperson Councillor Jennie Breene said 50 households across Logan had taken part in this year’s Garage Sale Trail.
“Council takes recycling seriously through its waste program and the Logan Recycling Market,” Cr Breene said.
“The people of Logan are also keen on recycling so it is no surprise that Kimberley has deservedly won the title of Queen of the Garage Sale.”
Powered by 148 local councils, Garage Sale Trail aims to encourage re-use, celebrate creativity and connect communities in a fun and social way.
Next year’s Garage Sale Trail will take place on the weekend of October 19 and 20.
