Office of the Interim Administrator

On 2 May 2019, The Queensland Parliament ratified the Local Government (Dissolution of Logan City Council) Amendment Regulation 2019, meaning the elected Council was dissolved, effective immediately. The Minister for Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs appointed Ms Tamara O'Shea as the Interim Administrator for Logan City Council under section 124 of the Local Government Act 2009.

Role of the Interim Administrator

As Interim Administrator, Ms O'Shea has all the responsibilities and powers of the Mayor and Councillors, and will perform this role until the conclusion of the next local government election in March 2020.

Ms O'Shea is committed to making well-informed decisions in accordance with the law, legislation, relevant policies and evidence. There are three areas in particular that Ms O'Shea will be focusing on during her time as Interim Administrator – continuity of service, stable leadership and good governance.

Tamara O'Shea - Biography

Ms Tamara O'Shea is a highly respected leader with a distinguished career as a senior public servant.

With more than 30 years in the public sector at both state and federal levels, Ms O'Shea brings extensive experience in governance and policy to her role as Interim Administrator of Logan City Council.

Prior to commencing in Logan, Ms O'Shea's most recent appointments were as Director-General of the Department of Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs and previously as the Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing.

Her career has involved governance oversight of key statutory bodies and she has extensive experience operating in complex and rapidly evolving environments. Ms O'Shea has a particular interest in corporate governance, strategic policy analysis and creative problem solving.

In her role as Interim Administrator, Ms O'Shea is committed to ensuring stable leadership, continuity of service and good governance for the City of Logan.
