Albert Street / Station Road Intersection Upgrade – Bethania

We are upgrading Albert Street / Station Road and Albert Street / Church Road intersections with signalised traffic lights to improve the safety and condition of the road for all users.

The project is estimated to cost $2.6 million and is being jointly funded by Council’s Major Roads Program and the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

Project Features

As part of the upgrade, we will:

  • Install new traffic lights at the Albert Street / Station Road and Albert Street / Church Road intersections.
  • Install additional turning lanes.
  • Install dedicated on-road cycleways through the intersections.
  • Carry out asphalt resurfacing works.
  • Upgrade sections of kerb and footpaths (as required).
  • Complete associated activities including line marking, installation of traffic signage and street lighting, and landscaping works.

Project Timing

The intersection upgrades are anticipated to commence January 2022 and expected to be completed by April 2022. 

Works will be carried out at night between 8:00pm to 5:00am, Sunday to Friday to reduce impacts on this busy road.

What can I expect?

During the works you can expect some localised construction impacts including:

  • Changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, temporary lane closures and traffic detours (as required).
  • Temporary traffic congestion during working hours.
  • Driveway access restrictions at times as works are carried out in front of driveway entrances. 
  • Temporary footpath closures at times.
  • Increased levels of noise, dust, vibration, and lighting impacts (during night works).
