Hot cars

Cars left in the sun get hot very quickly, even in winter.

RACQ's survey of car temperatures highlights the risks of leaving babies, young children and animals alone in vehicles, even for a short time.

The survey shows it can take just seven minutes for the temperature inside a car to change from air-conditioned levels to 40 degrees.

For more information about the survey, please visit RACQ.

Car restraints

By law, everyone must wear a seat belt (car restraint).

All children under the age of seven must wear appropriate restraints (seat belt or harness) designed for children.

In Queensland, the legislation for child restraints is based on the child’s age, not the child's height and weight.

Hold My Hand Project

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to always hold hands with children under the age of 10 around roads, driveways and carparks.

‘Hold my Hand’ is a community awareness campaign to remind parents and caregivers the importance of holding hands and educating children about road safety and the importance of safe behaviour around road environments.

We have partnered with the Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation, the University of New South Wales and some early childhood learning centres within Logan City (and other interstate jurisdictions) to evaluate the effectiveness of this awareness campaign.
