Our collection – Logan Art Gallery

The Logan Art Collection brings together artists from Logan, Queensland and across Australia. Artworks celebrate the creativity of Australia's artists.

Building the collection

The Logan Art Collection began with the Logan Art Award in 1988. The Award operated for 10 years and attracted significant works of art to Logan. It helped to facilitate cultural development in our city.

Today, the Logan Art Collection features a growing range of:

  • paintings
  • works on paper
  • photographs
  • ceramics
  • mixed media works
  • sculptures.

The collection includes the Logan, A Sense of Place collection, which reflects aspects of Logan's physical and social environment. Works featured in the Logan, A Sense of Place collection bring together various artists' ideas and impressions about the Logan area and what it’s like to live in the city. This collection describes and discusses the community and the different ways it can be seen and experienced.

In recent times, works for the Logan Art Collection have been acquired through our art collection policy. Suitable works are selected from exhibitions at the Logan Art Gallery, from the studios of local artists, and through gifts. We also receive gifts of artworks through the Commonwealth's Cultural Gifts Program.
