Active People - Travel Assistance

Logan residents will have more opportunities to enjoy sport and recreation in the city thanks to a partnership between Logan City Council and the Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club.

The Active People - Travel Assistance Grants program covers the direct expenses related to representative sport and are able to be used towards:

  • direct travel and accommodation expenses
  • compulsory competition fees
  • compulsory competition uniforms.

There have recently been amendments to the Active People - Travel Assistance Funding Guidelines to meet the needs of the Logan community as follows:

  • Support only those international sports listed on the Sports Directory under the Australian Sports Commission Local Sporting Champions grant criteria.
  • Reduce the total amount of funding per international event from $700 to $500 per championship.
  • Reduce the amount of funding for International events that are held in Australia from $700 to $300.

Applicants must now also provide Evidence of Residency on their application form.

Eligible applicants can apply for up to:

  • $300 for all state and national events
  • $500 for all international events
  • $300 for international events held in Australia.

Individuals are eligible to apply multiple times for funding up to a maximum amount of $1,000 per financial year, however are only eligible to submit one application per round.

Key dates

  • Active People - Travel Assistance Grant applications can be submitted throughout the year following notification of selection.
  • Applications must be fully completed and submitted prior to commencement of the championship event. No retrospective funding will be considered.
  • Fully completed applications may take six (6) weeks from submitting an application to receiving notification of the outcome.

Active People - Club Equipment

Due to expenditure of 2018/19 Club Equipment budget the Active People - Club Equipment February 2019 round will not be open.

Active Spaces - Maintenance

The Active Spaces - Maintenance program provides the City's sport and recreation organisations with an opportunity to apply for financial assistance towards their highest priority maintenance projects.

Organisations are able to apply for matched funding up to $5,000 for items such as canteen/kitchen maintenance, facility maintenance, playing field maintenance and hard court surface maintenance.

Key dates

  • Applications open 1 February 2019
  • Applications close 28 February 2019
  • Announcement of successful projects in March 2019

Who can apply

Any not-for-profit sport and recreation organisation:

  • operating on Council owned or controlled land
  • incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) or similar legislation.

Organisations must also:

  • be compliant with the Office of Fair Trade
  • not have any outstanding Logan City Council Maintenance grant acquittals.

Active Organisations - Grant Writer

Council's Active Organisations - Grant Writer Program is available to not for profit, incorporated sport, recreation and community organisations that work within the boundaries of Logan City.

This program aims to assist organisations to source funding opportunities with the support of a professional grant writer. In addition, the program aims to ensure the organisation gains the skills, knowledge and experience that will enable them to develop future grant submissions.
