Community Workshops & Special Events 2019

Avoiding waste creation and rethinking waste as a resource rather than just rubbish is great for the environment and the hip pocket. Keep an eye on this page for updates on free community workshops and special events.

FREE Community Workshop: Composting and Worm Farming

When: 10am – noon, Saturday 19th October 2019
Where: Crestmead Community Garden, 10 Gimlet Street, Crestmead

Logan City Council is again offering a community workshop on composting and worm farming.

Nearly half of the content of an average wheelie bin is made up of food waste. Organic matter can create pollution in our environment when disposed into landfill. Composting and worm farming are great alternatives for disposing food waste and benefit our environment at the same time.

Come along to the workshop to learn about how to start your own compost or worm farm at home and transform your food waste into valuable fertiliser for your garden. Morning tea and light refreshments will be provided, and the chance to win a lucky door prize!
