Logan Safety Camera Program
The Logan Safety Camera Program improves community safety through real-time CCTV monitoring and recording. The cameras operate in public spaces 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Logan Safety Camera Program benefits the community by:
- increasing community safety
- increasing pride and ownership of public spaces
- encouraging legitimate use of public spaces
- preventing, reducing and detecting incidents of antisocial and unlawful behaviour
- supporting the Queensland Police Service to effectively identify and prosecute offenders.
We work with the Queensland Police Service to operate the Safety Camera Program. We operate 171 safety cameras, which are directly linked to police stations and police iPads.
The Safety Camera Program has received many awards and commendations for outstanding community safety achievements, innovation, technology and partnerships. It has improved our ability to respond to crime, safety and antisocial behaviour. The program will continue to expand to new areas across the city.
Mobile safety cameras
We use mobile cameras to address short-term and ‘hotspot’ safety issues, such as hooning.
Our 23 mobile safety cameras are set up in vehicles that are available for rapid deployment.
We use mobile cameras to increase safety:
- at large community events
- for disaster management
- in response to community situations.
Enquiring about CCTV footage
We keep the CCTV footage captured on the Logan Safety Camera network for 30 days. We may keep the footage for more than 30 days if someone requests the footage or if we are told an incident may have been recorded.
In accordance with the Information Privacy Act, we can release CCTV footage to the Police. Before we release footage, we follow a strict process to make sure privacy is maintained.
