Logan Village Implementation Projects

A short project summary and key milestone dates for the Logan Village Implementation Projects endorsed by Council are summarised below:

Logan Village Place to Play

Design and deliver a signature playground in keeping with the rural and heritage character of Logan Village. 

Community consultation has been undertaken in the first stage of design for the new playground.

Local schools were engaged by Communities for Children, and an interactive 'Design your Place to Play' family fun day was held Sunday 4 August on the Logan Village Green.

Designs and feedback will be used to inform design of the project.

Logan Village Green Master Plan

Review and update the Village Green Masterplan in order to ensure that proposed Initiatives for the activation, expansion and embellishment of the Village Green are implemented in an integrated and cohesive manner in accordance with an agreed long term holistic vision.

Scope of work:

  • Accurately reflect existing conditions and community infrastructure
  • Consult and engage with key stakeholders to ensure existing and future operational requirements and uses are accommodated
  • Rationalise the location of proposed and existing infrastructure in order  to improve visual and physical connectivity and create a more consistent and cohesive overall outcome
  • Deliver improved visual and physical connectivity to the Logan River and surrounding residential precincts
  • Facilitate the  increased activation of the Village Green for key events and regular community activities
  • Review the new main street connection along the Village Green
  • Identify additional infrastructure/upgraded infrastructure such as a playground, future church (for community use) and coffee shop

My Home and the River Link

Design and construction of a 2m shared pathway connection between the Logan Village Green and the My Home and The River Estate which incorporates visual and physical connectivity with the Logan River via feature lighting, signage, an elevated viewing platform.

Scope of work:

  • 2m wide concrete pathway connection.
  • Bridge to cross gully and maintain healthy drainage corridor across site.
  • General landscape infrastructure
  • Clearing and earthworks
  • Viewing platform

* Final elements to be delivered will be subject to costings after tenders have been sought

Concept design and suite survey completed February 2019
Contract for design and construct awarded August 2019
Commence construction October 2019
Construction completed April 2020

Events Strategy for Logan Village

Preparation and ongoing delivery of a five-year strategy which establishes a shared long term vision and integrated framework to activate the Village Green and  via the provision of a range of events and festivals on the Village Green.  Scope includes the provision of a signature event in 2019 and the facilitation of additional smaller events in order to build capacity and support economic growth and social inclusion.

Free Wi-Fi to the Logan Village Green

Provide free Wi-Fi to the Logan Village Green to assist in the activation of the Village Green to support existing and proposed community activities and events.

Scope of Works:

  • Supply and installation of Wi-Fi equipment
  • Ongoing maintenance and management of Wi-Fi infrastructure
  • Data collection

Wi-Fi installed July 2019

Logan Village to Yarrabilba Rail Trail

Design of a pedestrian and cycle link between Yarrabilba and Logan Village along the decommissioned railway spurline. The pathway will provide safe off-road access between Yarrabillba and Logan Village and incorporate wayfinding and interpretative signage which highlights historical connections to the railway line.

Scope of Works:

  • Survey and engineering reports
  • Detailed design for the active transport link
  • Design of wayfinding and interpretive signage
