- Energex is reporting that power has been restored to all properties in the City of Logan.
- Local power outages are listed on the Disaster Dashboard.
- Stay away from fallen powerlines and report them to Energex on 13 19 62, or to triple zero (000) if it is a life-threatening situation.
- Stay updated through the the Energex website and social media.
- We know it’s challenging for residents still without power and we thank the community for their patience as Energex works to restore supply as quickly as they can.
- Residents can charge their devices and mobile phones at our ‘drop-in’ places of refuge or Council libraries. At Council libraries, residents can also access Wi-Fi, computers and printing services.
- If you can’t shower at a family or friend’s place, limited shower facilities are available at 2 of our refuge centres (Caddies Community Centre and Bethania Community Centre).
Using generators
Fuel-burning generators produce toxic carbon monoxide gas, which is colourless, odourless and can reach life threatening concentrations before being noticed.
Take these steps to protect yourself from carbon monoxide when using your generator:
- run your generator outside only
- position your generator away from open windows, including those of your neighbours
- use a battery-operated carbon monoxide alarm with the generator. This will alert you if levels become dangerously high.

Food safety
If you’re unable to keep your food refrigerated due to a prolonged power outage, it could be unsafe.
If you have lost power, here’s some tips to salvage what you can:
- Keep the fridge and freezer doors closed as much as possible. A closed refrigerator should keep food cold for four hours, and a closed freezer should keep food for between 24 and 48 hours depending on how full it is.
- If frozen foods have thawed, don’t re-freeze them. Eat them as soon as possible.
- If you were cooking when the power went out and you couldn’t resume cooking within 2 hours, throw it out. If it was properly cooked, eat it within two hours.
We urge residents to please be patient and follow Queensland Health's food safety advice.
Internet
The majority of NBN outages are caused by loss of mains power.
NBN has provided $7 million in relief funding to retail service providers, which can be used for financial support to customers whose services were impacted this week. Please contact your provider directly to find out more information.
