Seniors week is Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 August 2020. This year it’s going virtual! 

This week is an opportunity for us to celebrate the older people in our lives helping them increase their internet skills allowing them to connect with community, friends and family. 

This year we are celebrating Seniors Week a little differently with online activities and events. For details of the online activities and events, please see the table below.

We recognising not all seniors are online and that they can feel disconnected and isolated. COTA QLD, the QLD Government, Volunteering QLD and Telstra have put together a guide to help people access online events and activities.

Check your bedroom floor -  Make sure that there are no trip hazards before you go to bed!

Balance - Stand on 1 leg next to bench for 30seconds, trying not to have to hold on. Repeat 5 times each leg.

Sit to Stands - Try standing up from your dining room chair without having to use your arms. Repeat 10 times.

Heel to Toe Walking - Walk along your hallway putting your heel up against your toe of your other foot. Repeat 3 times.

Wear Shoes - Socks are slippery. Light weight shoes can be an easy way to prevent falls.
