Major facility or infrastructure improvements will be completed at each club in coming months to support the development of local athletes and sporting teams.

Collectively, the clubs have received $2.67 million from the Queensland Government’s Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund, through the Department of Tourism and Sport.

A further $2.52 million has been allocated from Logan City Council’s Sports and Recreation Facilities Program.

City of Logan Mayor Jon Raven said investment in local sport delivers multiple benefits for the community.

“Logan is officially the fastest growing city in Queensland - so we need our local sporting facilities to match that growth,” Cr Raven said.

“Eighty per cent of kids play sport, which is why these investments are so important for our community.

“Each upgrade is another step towards transforming Logan and creating a brighter future.”

State Member for Logan Linus Power MP said the funds would go to lighting upgrades, new changerooms and new amenities.

“Our clubs and sporting facilities are very much at the heart of our community and this funding will ensure they are open and accessible to even more people,” Mr Power said.

“In addition to the 11 projects also supported by the Logan City Council, Guides Queensland and Logan Basketball are receiving combined funding of $255,945 through the Queensland Government’s Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund.”

The 11 clubs set to receive facility upgrades are:

• Slacks Creek Football Club (lighting upgrade at Usher Park)

• Logan Village Falcons All Sports (lighting upgrade at Big River Country Park)

• Logan City Hawks Rugby League Club (lighting upgrade at Leighton Fields)

• Mustangs Brothers Rugby League Club (lighting upgrade at Chambers Flat)

• Jimboomba United Football Club (new changerooms at Kurrajong Park)

• Park Ridge Active Riding Group (new equestrian arena at Skerman Park)

• Middle Green Sports (lighting upgrade at Greenbank Recreation Reserve)

• Twin Rivers Community Mallet Sports Club (amenities block at Bedford Park)

• Beenleigh Junior Rugby League Club (lighting upgrade at Hammel Park)

• Beenleigh Netball Association (lighting upgrade at Hammel Park)

• Beenleigh Sports & Community Club (lighting upgrade at Dauth Park)
