The annual forum, presented by Logan City Council, brings the community together for a series of free sessions throughout June to learn, collaborate and build connections that enhance the City of Logan’s natural environment.

The Eco Forum theme this year is ‘Our Nature Spaces’.

Environment Chair Councillor Jon Raven said Eco Forum is a fantastic opportunity for the community to discover local environments.

“Our community knows the importance of enhancing and preserving our natural spaces for everyone to enjoy,” Cr Raven said.

“Eco Forum gives everyone a chance to learn about, connect with, and contribute to protecting our city’s natural environments.”

The Logan Eco Action Festival (LEAF) on Sunday, June 4, will kick-start the series of Eco Forum events with an interactive ‘Discovering our Nature Spaces’ discussion, led by Grow It Local co-founder Paul West, and citizen science expert Michelle Neil.

Hands-on learning will take centre stage on Saturday, June 10, at Logan Village Green for the ‘Creating our Nature Spaces – Activity Day’.

Community members of all ages can learn how to create nature spaces at home with activities including building DIY wildlife homes, expert talks on planting gardens that benefit households and local wildlife, and a chance to get close to native animals.

The ‘Celebrate our Nature Spaces – Community Celebration’ is on Friday, June 23 at the Kingston Butter Factory to round out the month of Council-presented eco-events.

Attendees will hear from guest speakers including PlatypusWatch ecologist and researcher Tamielle Brunt, and Greenpeace and WWF science communicator and ambassador Laura Wells.

Recipients of Council’s 2023 EnviroGrants will also be announced at the event.

All events are free to attend, however tickets are required for selected workshops at the ‘Creating our Nature Spaces – Activity Day’ and to attend the ‘Celebrate our Nature Spaces – Community Celebration’.

Eco Forum coincides with the launch of Council’s new ‘Creating Wildlife Friendly Backyard’ guides, which will be available at LEAF and all Eco Forum events.

• ‘Discovering our Nature Spaces’ – Sunday, June 4 from 11.15am to noon at Logan Eco Action Festival (Griffith University, Meadowbrook).
• ‘Creating our Nature Spaces – Activity Day’ – Saturday, June 10 from 9am to 1pm at Logan Village Green (Logan St, Logan Village). Tickets are required for selected workshops at this event, and can be purchased through Eventbrite.
• ‘Celebrate our Nature Spaces – Community Celebration’ – Friday, June 23 from 5.30pm to 8pm at Kingston Butter Factory (Jacaranda Ave, Kingston). Tickets are required for this event. Tickets will be available from Friday, June 2 through Eventbrite.
