Fallen power lines and trees have impacted some roads, parks and Council facilities.

As of 11:30am, Energex reported that 8,521 customers were affected by power outages in the City of Logan.

Residents are urged to take caution while the clean-up is underway.

Key information includes:

• Road debris and road closures can be reported to Council on 3412 3412. All non-urgent requests can be reported on our webiset Logan City Council
• An updated list of impacted roads will be available as it comes to hand on Council’s Disaster Dashboard
• Council’s Jimboomba Customer Service Centre and Library are currently closed due to power outages. Council’s Beenleigh and Logan Central Customer Service Centres remain open normal hours on those weekdays that are not public holidays.
• Council officers are working to assess storm damage to city parks. Residents are urged to avoid damaged parks and park infrastructure in the city. Logan River Parklands and Mundoolun Park are currently closed due to storm damage.
• Logan City Council waste contractor Cleanaway has advised that some bins may not be collected as scheduled today due to storm damage blocking access to some streets. If safe to do so, please leave your bin kerbside and it will be collected as soon as possible.
• To assist with the clean up, residents are able to dispose of storm related waste at Council's transfer stations at no cost. This includes green waste (i.e. branches, leaves, etc), spoilt food, storm damaged household items, and uncollected wheelie bin waste. Loads greater than 2 cubic metres must be taken to the Browns Plains transfer station. There are currently significant queues at Council’s waste facilities and residents should only attend today if absolutely necessary. Green waste and storm debris will continue to be accepted at no cost over the coming days. It is recommended residents arrive before 9:00am or after 3:00pm, and patience is appreciated.
• No further flooding is expected in the Logan River upstream of Yarrahappini, and flooding is no longer expected to occur downstream.

To prepare for any future storm activity, residents are encouraged to take steps to protect themselves and their properties.

This includes:

• Prepare an emergency kit and have an emergency plan.
• Identify loose objects in their yards or on decks or balconies which may need to be secured or put away.
• Trim trees and branches and clear garden debris.
• Check/secure roofing.
• Clean gutters and downpipes.
