About this event

Jump online and we will teach you everything you need to know about this unique species, then those who want to can enrol onto our PlatypusWatch survey program.

The topics we will cover are:

  • Platypus history
  • The unique biology of the platypus
  • Life cycle and breeding
  • Food and habitat
  • Threats to platypus
  • Watergum’s PlatypusWatch survey program.

Watergum’s PlatypusWatch is a citizen science program that has monitored platypus populations for the past 13 years. Community volunteers help to collect vital data on platypus populations and habitat by going out into the environment to search for platypus, with all sightings and observations being reported to council and added to national databases.

Now more than ever, our local platypus need your help. With increased urbanisation and natural disasters, platypus populations are under threat. With your help we can monitor family groups and help ensure their survival for future generations.

For more information email platypus@watergum.org and visit Watergum.

Sign up today, spaces are limited!

This workshop is delivered by Watergum as part of the City of Logan's Environmental Events and Activities program and Citizen Science initiatives.
