The Rapid Response Task Force is a team that quickly deals with amenity issues such as burnt out vehicles shopping trolleys and illegal signs. It was created as a result of community expectations that these sorts of issues are dealt with quickly. So we deal mainly with those illegal signs that are on almost every power pole. Signs that attach to power poles are actually quite dangerous.

It's dangerous for the person attaching the sign and it can be distracting to road users and pedestrians. A lot of the time we are made aware of burnt out vehicles from either customers calling in or scrolling through Facebook posts, of community groups and our own colleagues driving the streets.

We also have a triage officer who sends us the jobs that come in from customers. That person also does our background checks, finds locations for us so we can easily find our way throughout the city. Councillors saw that this was an important issue for the city. So we're funded for three years by Council because it goes to the heart of having a clean city.
